Who is Blackmarket Boo?
Blackmarket Boo is Shirin Borthwick, a New York-based photographer and writer. Shirin holds an MPhil in Classics from Cambridge University and an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University. She has also studied oil painting at the Aegean Center for Fine Arts in Greece. Having gained experience in many forms of art, mid-2009 she picked up a real camera and never put it down again. Blackmarket Boo is not about tracking trends or documenting the in(secure) crowd. It’s about quirks and differences. To capture the individual as an art piece is Shirin’s project. She is available for event photography, headshots and portraiture – especially for the camera-shy.
